April marks the celebration of Community College Month, shining a spotlight on the important role played by institutions like Rappahannock Community College (RCC) in our communities and beyond. “Community College Month is an opportunity to celebrate the importance and value of our college to our community and to demonstrate how we are cultivating skills and preparing students for the future,” said Dr. Shannon Kennedy, RCC President.
During the May 16, 2024, meeting of the State Board of Community Colleges, discussion will be held to consider mandatory tuition and fee increases of between one percent and 4.9 percent for undergraduate in-state students and between 3.6 percent and 6.1 percent for out-state students, subject to budget provisions of the 2024 General Assembly.
Twenty-eight teams totaling 112 players, numerous sponsors, volunteers, and supporters helped raise more than $23,000 and netting $18,000 for RCC EFI. The funds raised will allow the Foundation to fully endow the Ruth Greene Student Success Fund in perpetuity. The Fund helps students who otherwise might have to decide between gas for their car to get to class or the ability to purchase a textbook.

Two-year diagnostic medical sonography degree programs are available at a few other community colleges in Virginia, but only one, located in Northern Virginia, offers a degree program in heart sonography specifically.
A recent study prepared by Lightcast, a global leader in labor market analytics, indicates that Rappahannock Community College (RCC) added $99.2 million in income to its 12-county service region in fiscal year 2021-2022.
