Computer Aided Drafting Career Studies Certificate This 16-credit program can be completed in one to two semesters. The program prepares students to work as CAD technicians and provides skills enhancement for working technicians, engineers, drafters, and designers. It includes advanced CAD drafting and design using auto CAD and specialty software in electronics, graphics programming, or mechanical, architectural, or civil design.

 

Diesel Mechanics Technology Career Studies Certificate A 28-credit program that can be completed in two semesters. The Career Studies Certificate is designed to investigate career possibilities, upgrade occupational skills, and/ or provide entry-level skills in electronics for students who are proficient in electrical concepts. Program credits can be applied to the Engineering General Technology Associate of Applied Science Degree. Eligible for additional financial aid through the G3 program (link to G3 page).

 

Diesel Mechanics Technology Certificate A 38-credit program that can be completed in three semesters. It includes the full Diesel Mechanics Technology curriculum along with additional courses such as Introduction to Digital and Information Literacy and Computer Applications.

 

Electrical and Instrumentation Technician Career Studies Certificate This 17-credit program can be completed in one to two semesters. It builds on foundational electrical knowledge taught in the Practical Electrical Technician Career Studies Certificate and covers more advanced applied skills in the electrical and instrumentation field, including advanced electrical skills, automated design processes, introduction to industrial management, and the principles of process control. Program credits can be applied to the Engineering General Technology Associate of Applied Science Degree. Students in this program are eligible for additional financial aid through the G3 program.

 

Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Career Studies Certificate This 17-credit program can be completed in one to two semesters. The program trains students for entry-level positions requiring skills in installing, troubleshooting, and repairing heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, primarily in residential applications. Eligible for additional financial aid through the G3 program (link to G3 page).

 

Advanced Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (AHVAC) Career Studies Certificate This 29-credit program can be completed in two semesters. The program provides advanced training for entry-level positions requiring skills in installing, troubleshooting, and repairing heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, primarily in residential applications. Eligible for additional financial aid through the G3 program (link to G3 page).

 

Refrigerant Certification All individuals who maintain, service, repair, or dispose of appliances that contain regulated refrigerants must be certified in proper refrigerant handling techniques. EPA Section 608 of the Federal Clean Act Air requires that persons who work with regulated refrigerants be certified and currently work in the field. 

 

SHINE Solar PV Installation Technician Certification Get a head start toward a career in the fast-growing solar field. You will earn certifications that are key to your success while gaining valuable hands-on experience in a unique solar training lab designed to simulate true-to-life conditions in the field.

Tradesman License Renewal Renew your tradesman license online at your convenience! Journeymen, Master Plumbers, Electricians, HVAC mechanics, and Gas Fitters are required by the Virginia Board of Contractors to take a pre-determined number of continuing education hours. These classes are recognized by the Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation (DPOR) and the Virginia Board of Contractors.

 

Welding Career Studies Certificate This 24-credit program can be completed in two semesters. The program introduces students to the principles and techniques of basic oxyacetylene welding and cutting, basic shielded metal arc welding, and basic gas metal arc welding. Courses are geared to students enrolled in other programs such as diesel mechanics technology.

 

AWS Welding Certification Programs: Short-term classes where students acquire skill sets that are attached to specified American Welding Society certifications. Tuition discounts may be available. The program offers certifications in:
