"Morning AgClips" reported that RCC freshman and Essex County resident Anne Kathryn Martz was named the 2024 Virginia Farm Bureau Ambassador at the recent Virginia Farm Bureau Federation Women's Leadership Conference in Roanoke. She plans to begin pursuing a degree in agricultural education this fall at Virginia Tech.
Rappahannock Community College (RCC) inducted 28 students into Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), Alpha Lambda Omicron Chapter, Honor Society in a recent ceremony held at Essex High School. PTK is an international honor society recognizing full-time, two-year college students who maintain a GPA of 3.5 or higher. Members receive opportunities for scholarships, develop leadership skills, and participate in volunteer activities.

Rappahannock Community College (RCC) is pleased to announce the winners of its inaugural Virginia Community College System Poetry & Visual Arts Competition. Students were encouraged to submit original poetry and visual artworks interpreting the theme “I Belong.” Twenty of the 23 colleges in the Virginia Community College System (VCCS) participated in this first year of the competition, which was supported by the VCCS Advisory Council on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Culture, with its aim to foster community and belonging on campuses and in the community.
April marks the celebration of Community College Month, shining a spotlight on the important role played by institutions like Rappahannock Community College (RCC) in our communities and beyond. “Community College Month is an opportunity to celebrate the importance and value of our college to our community and to demonstrate how we are cultivating skills and preparing students for the future,” said Dr. Shannon Kennedy, RCC President.
During the May 16, 2024, meeting of the State Board of Community Colleges, discussion will be held to consider mandatory tuition and fee increases of between one percent and 4.9 percent for undergraduate in-state students and between 3.6 percent and 6.1 percent for out-state students, subject to budget provisions of the 2024 General Assembly.
