Rappahannock Community College Named “2026 Great College to Work For”
Rappahannock Community College (RCC) is one of the best colleges in the nation to work for, according to the Great Colleges to Work For® program.
The results, released on September 18 released in a special insert of The Chronicle of Higher Education, are based on a survey of 171 colleges and universities. In all, 76 of those institutions achieved “Great College to Work For” recognition for specific best practices and policies.
RCC won honors in three categories this year: Supervisor/Department Chair Effectiveness, Confidence in Senior Leadership, and Faculty & Staff Well-Being. “This is a very satisfying affirmation of RCC’s mission to transform lives and communities,” said RCC President Dr. Shannon Kennedy. “This incredibly meaningful mission, our faculty and staff’s commitment to student success, our collective spirit, and family atmosphere make the College a great place to work. I am so thankful to work at an institution where every employee, no matter the role, puts student success first.”
The survey results are based on a two-part assessment process: an institution questionnaire that captures employment data and workplace policies from each institution, and a survey administered to faculty, administrators, and professional support staff. The primary factor in deciding whether an institution received recognition was employee feedback. One employee commented on the survey, “I appreciate the sense of family and that we are all in this together. There are ample opportunities to grow, and the recognition programs are fantastic which make us feel someone notices our very hard work.”
The Great Colleges to Work For® program is one of the largest and most respected workplace recognition programs in the country.
