Rappahannock Institute for Lifelong Learning (RILL) Announces Fall Schedule
Rappahannock Community College’s Rappahannock Institute for Lifelong Learning (RILL) invites you to “go back to school” with a variety of classes, from history to film appreciation; pickleball to AI; and more. The modest tuition fee for classes helps support a scholarship for a student at RCC.
Here’s the schedule for fall. Registration and payment required prior to class.
Beginner Pickleball ($35) taught by Paul Shrieves in Warsaw is on Mondays/Fridays, September 8, 12, 15, and 19 from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Space is limited so register early.
Intermediate Pickleball ($35) taught by Dr. Will Cox in Warsaw on Mondays/Fridays, September 26, 29, October 3 and 6. Space is limited so register early.
The Ever-Changing Ocean ($35) presented by Carl Hobbs in Glenns on Wednesdays, September 10, 17, and 24, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Imposed Borders: The Legacy of World War I for Today’s Middle East ($35) presented by Michael Knapp at Rappahannock Westminster-Canterbury in Irvington on Tuesdays, September 16, 23, and 30, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
The Works of Flannery O’Connor ($25) presented by Joseph Swonk in Warsaw on Mondays, October 6 and 13, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
The Journey of Stonewall Jackson ($35) with Keith Kehlbeck at Rappahannock Westminster-Canterbury in Irvington on Tuesdays, October 14, 21, and 28, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Fraud Prevention: How Bankers, Customers, and Law Enforcement Can Work Together to Protect Our Community (Free class) led by representatives from Primis Bank and Assistant Commonwealth Attorney for Henrico County, in Warsaw and on Zoom, Wednesdays, October 15 and 22. There is no charge for this class thanks to Primis Bank.
The History and Preservation of the Timberneck House at Machicomoco State Park in Hayes ($20) with Dr. Dave Brown and Thane Harpole with the Fairfield Foundation. This onsite course will be on Thursday, October 16 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Sight, Sound, & Feel: A Film Appreciation Intensive ($35) with Colin McClung in Warsaw on Thursdays, October 30, November 6 and 13, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
The American Civil War: The First Modern War ($25) presented by Dr. Paul Severance in Glenns on Mondays, November 3 and 10 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Demystifying AI: What ChatGPT and Others Mean for the Future ($25) taught by Amber Dinquel, RCC faculty, on Zoom, Fridays, November 7 and 14 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff…and It’s All Small Stuff ($20) with Dr. Robert Chapman in Warsaw on Wednesday, November 12 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
