Associate Degrees

Associate of Applied Science in Nursing (ADN)

At the successful completion of the program, students will be eligible to take the National Council Licensure Exam (NCLEX-RN), leading to licensure as a registered nurse (RN). Additional tuition assistance is available through the G3 program. Learn more about coursework and requirements for the traditional track and the LPN to ADN advanced placement option. 

 

ADN Application and Accreditation

 

Pre-BSN Specialization, AA&S Transfer Degree

Designed for students who are preparing for their Bachelors of Science in Nursing, this program is geared to students who want to transfer to a four-year college upon completing the Associate of Applied Science in Nursing. All courses will transfer to a BSN program. 

 

Certificates

Practical Nursing Certificate (PN)

This 44-credit program can be completed in one year. It prepares students to provide safe and effective nursing care for clients with common health problems as defined by the role of the practical nurse, as well as to collaborate effectively with all members of the healthcare team. Upon successful completion of the curriculum, the graduate will be eligible to apply to take the NCLEX-PN® examination leading to licensure as a practical nurse. Additional tuition assistance is available through G3.

Programs that Prepare you for the ADN and PN 

Pre-Nursing Career Studies Certificate

This 14-credit program can be completed in two semesters. It  prepares students for competitive admission or guaranteed admission to the Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) program or the Practical Nursing (PN) Certificate program with the general education courses completed. All courses in the first semester of this program earn curricular credits needed for ranking of applicants. Additional tuition assistance is available through G3.

Pre-Practical Nursing Career Studies Certificate

Geared to dual enrolled high school students, this career studies certificate provides an articulated pathway into the Practical Nursing Program. Upon completion, students will have completed the major general education course requirements for the Practical Nursing Program, including the Nurse Aide curriculum.  These courses will prepare the student to successfully complete the Kaplan Nursing Entrance Test. Additional tuition assistance is available through G3

 

Short-term Programs

Medication Aid

This course prepares you to administer medications in Assisted Living Facilities. Learn and develop skills in: Proper procedure for preparing administering, and maintaining medications; Asepsis; Basic pharmacology; Assisting client with self-administration of medication; and Documentation. Upon successful completion of the program, you will be eligible to take the Virginia State Board of Nursing competency exam for licensure as a Registered Medication Aide. Proof of competition of a Nurse Aid course or a 40-hour DCA or PCA course is required. 

Nurse Aide Career Studies Certificate

This 9-credit program can be completed in one semester and prepare students for full-time employment as nursing assistants. It is designed to give graduates full proficiency in the skills required to assist with nursing care in nursing homes, hospitals, and supervised home care situations.

Patient Care Technician Certification

Successful completion of this 10-week program provides graduates with multiple credentials, combining Nurse Aide and Clinical Medical Assistant to become a certified Patient Care Technician.
