COURSE DESCRIPTION: Teaches care of older patients with emphasis on the social, emotional, and spiritual needs. Covers procedures; communication and interpersonal relations; observation, charting and reporting; safety and infection control; anatomy and physiology; personal care, nutrition and patient feeding; death and dying. May include laboratory or clinical hours. Lecture 2-4 hours. Laboratory 3-9 hours. Total 6-11 hours per week.
