On November 15, a “Workforce Connect” event, sponsored by the college’s Office of Career and Transition Services (a department of the Workforce Development Office), was held on Rappahannock Community College’s Glenns Campus. Company representatives from Curtis Contracting, Lowes, MetroCast, Rappahannock Westminister Canterbury, Scribe America, Virginia Health Services, and Visiting Angels attended.
Approximately twenty-five students and community members took advantage of the opportunity to meet with employers and learn about College Central Network, RCC’s new career services portal. RCC career coaches Constance Peay and Betsy Wampler explained how CCN allows registrants to search for local and national job databases and internship opportunities, build resumes, post online portfolios, and receive job notices, as well as gaining access to online career advice and announcements about upcoming events. The next Workforce Connect event will be held in January 2017 on RCC’s Warsaw Campus.
