Rappahannock Community College recently achieved the rank of sixth in a list of “2016-2017 Best Online Colleges in Virginia” by Affordable Colleges Online. This organization uses a proprietary metric that collects and analyzes data from every accredited postsecondary institution in the state to determine the best balance of academic excellence, student support, and affordability for online learning. Or, as they say, the best “bang for your buck” in an online degree.
Among the reasons for RCC’s ranking, ACO noted, was the fact that distance learners can choose from courses delivered through three formats: online, hybrid (combining online and classroom elements), and interactive video. They also pointed out that all student resources offered on campus are available for online students as well, including technical support services and libraries with high-speed internet connections.
“Statistics show students in Virginia are currently seeing some of the lowest tuition increases at public colleges in the last 15 years,” said Dan Schuessler, CEO and founder of AffordableCollegesOnline.org. “With more than two dozen schools on our list offering excellent online education options, Virginia is putting students first when it comes to affordability, as well as quality and flexibility with online learning.”
RCC’s president, Dr. Elizabeth Crowther, notes, “Online courses and actual degree offerings are among several delivery methods that RCC uses to assure area students have accessible, high-quality collegiate opportunities. We are very proud of this ranking by ACO.”
