RCC’s EMT program head, Ellen Vest (standing, at rear), demonstrated the uses of a SimMan practice mannequin for the benefit of New Kent High School students during a college tour on April 14.

A large group of New Kent High School students took guided tours of RCC’s Glenns Campus on April 14. The purpose of their visit was to learn more about the various degree and certificate programs offered by the college.

A special presentation about the RCC Scholars’ Program — which allows high school students to enroll in evening and weekend classes at any RCC site, at a special “Scholar Rate,” was given by RCC dual enrollment recruiter Hutt Williams.

Charles Smith, RCC’s dean of health services, spoke about the college’s health programs, and RCC’s EMT program head, Ellen Vest, demonstrated the uses of a SimMan practice mannequin.

The students also had the opportunity to find out about the learning resources available to them through the RCC library, and to attend a lively panel discussion about making the transition from high school to college.
