RCC Named “Great College to Work For”

The Great Colleges to Work For program is one of the largest and most respected workplace recognition programs in the country. Now in its thirteenth year, it recognizes the colleges that get top ratings from their employees regarding workplace practices and policies.

Rappahannock Community College has been named a “Great College to Work For” for six straight years and has achieved “Honor Roll” status three times, including this year. RCC is the only community college in the Commonwealth to receive the Honor Roll distinction this year.

RCC received special recognition in the following categories:

  • Collaborative Governance
  • Compensation & Benefits
  • Confidence in Senior Leadership
  • Respect and Appreciation
  • Supervisor/Department Chair Relationship
  • Teaching Environment (Faculty Only)

By the numbers:

  • 221 institutions participated in 2020, including 127 four-year institutions and 94 two-year institutions.
  • 79 institutions are recognized as a 2020 Great College to Work For, including 54 four-year institutions and 25 two-year institutions.
  • Only 11 two-year institutions are on the Honor Roll, recognized as stand-outs in their size categories.

When I began as RCC’s fourth president in July 2019, I was made aware that RCC had been designated a “Great College to Work For” for five straight years. I quickly realized that RCC is truly a great place to work. I am beyond proud that this year we are among the best of the best colleges to work for as an Honor Roll institution,” said RCC President Shannon L. Kennedy. “The faculty and staff, both full-time and part-time, make RCC an incredibly special place.”

“At the outset, and in the midst of, a world-wide pandemic, 221 colleges and universities across the country intentionally chose to participate in the 2020 Great Colleges to Work For® program. Truly great workplaces, and those on the journey to become one, stand by their commitment to faculty and staff engagement in good times, and in bad,” says Richard K. Boyer, Senior Consultant at ModernThink.
