Challenge 4

rcc nurses

CHALLENGE: Too Few Faculty for High Demand Nursing Program

RCC does not currently have the faculty capacity to accept all eligible and worthy students who apply to the program. For the 2019-20 academic year, 50 applicants were turned away because of lack of faculty.

Solution

rcc nursing faculty

SOLUTION: Additional Faculty

One additional faculty member can teach 30 more nursing students a year. A dedicated funding stream through an endowed fund will ensure enough faculty are on board to graduate more nurses.

RCC nursing faculty are dedicated instructors and find joy in teaching. Faculty and staff have rated RCC “A Great College to Work for” five years in a row!

More than 380 students are enrolled in health science programs at RCC.

How can you help?
Give to the Catherine Courtney Endowed Professorship

Catherine CourtneyThis initiative, named in honor of RCC’s first director of nursing, Catherine Mooklar Courtney, will fund the first endowed faculty position at RCC, supporting one full-time nursing professor in perpetuity. Lead gifts to the endowment can be recognized as sub-funds to the effort and show broad support from the community for this important initiative.
