INSPIRING EXCELLENCE. STRENGTHENING OUR COMMUNITY. TRANSFORMING LIVES.

..

Challenge 1

3kids

CHALLENGE:
Students Cannot Afford Tuition, Fees and Books

Full-time tuition is $4,800 per year at RCC, well below the $24,000 average for 4-year state universities. But many of our students struggle to pay for basic needs each month and RCC tuition is the first expense to go when cutting costs.

Solution

scholarships

SOLUTION: Scholarships

Scholarships help cover tuition and book costs. For those students with the most financial need, Pell and state grants can be coupled with scholarships to assist with living expenses while attending school.

The Dr. Mel Shelby Scholarship established by Gloucester’s Samaritan Group supports students such as Savannah Bryant (third from left).

Inspiring Excellence

“I say it’s not where you start.
It’s where you finish.”

—Nursing student and scholarship recipient, Breyona Harvey

RCC partners with Bridging Communities Career and Tech Center to offer college credits to high school students.

Breyona was able to earn her CNA certification while at King & Queen’s Central High School, jump-starting her nursing degree.

How can you help?
Establish an Endowed Scholarship

Transform an RCC student’s life by establishing a scholarship, funded by yearly contributions or in perpetuity by endowing. Through generated annual income of 3-5% of the principal, endowed scholarships provide permanent tuition support each year.
