STEP 2: Apply for Financial Aid

Applying for financial aid at the very start of the process is important. It does take some time to process the paperwork. Go to and enter our school code — 009160.

If you need additional assistance, please contact the Glenns Financial Aid office at 804-758-6735 or the Warsaw Financial Aid office at 804-333-6743. For more information, visit our Financial Aid section.

STEP 3: Placement

In order to place you into the right classes, we’ll need to know your educational history:

  • Request official high school transcript, SAT/ACT scores, and/or college transcripts. Please have them sent to RCC

If you have graduated high school and/or taken the SAT or ACT in the past five years, you may not have to take the Virginia Placement Test (VPT). Through multiple measures for placement such as your high school GPA, SAT/ACT or GED scores, you may qualify for placement into college level English and math courses without having to take a placement test. If you do not qualify for placement by other measures, plan to take the Virginia Placement Test (VPT) for English and math.

To take the placement test, please make an appointment via the Glenns or Warsaw Campus: 804-758-6725 or toll free 1-855-557-5308 (you will need your RCC student ID number and a picture ID). Testing may require a $5 fee.

Below are resources to help you prepare for the VPT:

STEP 4: Meet with an RCC Counselor

The counselor will go over placement tests, discuss program options, and help you plan your schedule. To make an appointment with a Glenns Campus counselor call 804-758-6730, or for a Warsaw Campus counselor call 804-333-6730 or to schedule by email

STEP 5: Plan your Schedule

Check out the classes that are available through our online schedule tool. As you saw in Step 3, you’ll want your counselor or advisor to help you pick out the correct sequence of classes as you begin.

STEP 6: Register for Classes

Students may register in person at the Glenns Campus, Warsaw Campus, or King George Site for classes taught at either campus. Eligible students may also register online via myRCC.

STEP 7: Pay for Classes

This is why Step 2 is so important! Paying for classes is a must in order to attend.

Once you have completed all of those steps, you’ll be a student at Rappahannock Community College!
If you have any questions about the steps listed, please let us know.
