21st Century Design
If it’s not on the Internet, it doesn’t exist! With the Web Design Career Studies Certificate, you’ll learn how to create your own websites. After completing this program, you’ll have the skills necessary to create sites that meet the challenges of promoting and advertising in the digital era.
As part of the program, you’ll learn advanced techniques in site planning, design, usability, accessibility, management and maintenance. And as an added plus, you’ll get the basics for designing mobile apps.

More than ever before, businesses and organizations are turning to the internet to power their products and advertise their services, and the demand for skilled web developers keeps growing. Corporations, nonprofit organizations, and governments are always in need of trained developers to build and maintain websites, mobile apps, and ecommerce sites. This field is growing so rapidly that the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects an astronomical 27% increase in web developer jobs through 2024. If you have an interest in web development and design, you should consider earning a certificate in web design online. A certificate can get you in the door at a major corporation, or enable you to pursue your own creative, entrepreneurial endeavors.

The Web Design Career Studies Certificate is a 12 credit program and designed to be completed over two semesters. Courses are primarily offered online.
Getting Started at RCC:
- Apply online or in person.
- Have your official high school transcripts sent to RCC to see if you can use your high school grades to substitute for a placement test. If you need to take a placement test, Placement tests cost $5 and scores are good for two years. Call a counselor at 804-758-6730 (Glenns Campus) or 804-333-6730 for more information.
- Complete your Federal Application for Federal Student Aid (FASFA) and add RCC School Code 009160
- Meet with a counselor to review your placement test scores and register for class.
