Classes Designed to Transfer
Our Arts and Sciences degree program is designed to give you all the classes needed to transfer successfully to the college of your choice. RCC has partnerships with more than 30 four-year schools in Virginia, guaranteeing that if you maintain the proper grades, you will be accepted. Get with one of our counselors early on — they will help you chart your classes and your transfer path.
In many ways, our Arts and Science transfer degree is the very smartest way to go. You can knock out all of the core classes at RCC, and transfer them all to your destination school — all the while saving a bunch of money in tuition and fees.
Prepped for the Next Level
The Arts and Sciences program at Rappahannock Community College will get you ready academically for the four-year school you’ll attend next. If you are shaky in some areas — especially Math and English — we have classes designed to ensure that you’ll be able to compete at a high standard.
Not a Major, but a Specialization
At the four-year school that you’ll transfer to after earning your degree with RCC, you’ll pick a major to pursue. Here, you can “specialize” in a subject, which may help give you an easier time after you’ve transferred. You can do the basic Arts and Sciences degree, or you can specialize in the following:
Online and In Person
With five convenient locations — in Gloucester, Richmond County, New Kent, King George and Kilmarnock — RCC is basically around the corner from wherever you live. But, we also have many classes that are available online as well. You have the option of taking classes in person (at the beautiful Warsaw Campus as pictured) or in your pajamas at home.

How to Apply
Getting Started at RCC:
- Apply online or in person.
- Have your official high school transcripts sent to RCC to see if you can use your high school grades to substitute for a placement test. If you need to take a placement test, Placement tests cost $5 and scores are good for two years. Call a counselor at 804-758-6730 (Glenns Campus) or 804-333-6730 for more information.
- Complete your Federal Application for Federal Student Aid (FASFA) and add RCC School Code 009160
- Meet with a counselor to review your placement test scores and register for class.
