Warsaw Rotary Donates to RCC Library

In support of literacy in the community, the Warsaw Rotary Club has recently formed a partnership with the Rappahannock Community College/Richmond County Public Library. Combined funds so far donated from the District Rotary Office and the local club amount to $2,000.

RCC dean of learning resources Cherie Carl (pictured, right, with Rotary Board member Larry Thorn) says that the funds have been used for “Family Literacy” backpacks—containing a book, DVD, and activity sheet—that have been given away at community and library events. They also purchased books for RCC’s collection that will complement those available through the Richmond County Elementary School’s “Reading Counts” program. “We’re all working together to promote literacy in our community,” she says. In addition to the Rotary donation, certificates redeemable for food items at any Warsaw Rotary event were awarded to children who completed the library’s summer reading program.
