NN Realtors make scholarship donation to RCC

George English, president of the Northern Neck Association of Realtors (NNAR), watches with approval as NNAR association executive Susan Price hands a check for $2000 to Victor Clough, executive director of the Rappahannock Community College Educational Foundation. Mr. English testifies that the current donation continues a long tradition of NNAR support for the college.

This year’s NNAR award goes to freshman Kyle Gaskins of Northumberland County, who is descended from several generations of Chesapeake Bay watermen. “They were all very smart men, but not one of them had the opportunity to go to college,” Gaskins said in his application for RCC enrollment. “A college degree will help me have the opportunity to have a wonderful career and a great job . . . with a steady income.” He plans to use his RCC associate degree as transfer credit for a bachelor’s degree in business administration from a four-year university. “My ultimate goal is to open my own seafood business,” he says.

The NNAR scholarship is just one of more than 300 awards—totaling nearly $350,000—that the RCC Educational Foundation bestows on deserving students each year, says Clough.
