RCC trotters and hunters nab turkeys

On November 25, as a Thanksgiving “pre-celebration,” Rappahannock Community College’s Glenns Campus hosted a Turkey Trot along the campus nature trail. The student winners, Andrew Mitchell of Richmond County and Dustin Pechart of Mathews County, received turkeys; Mitchell generously donated his bird to the Christmas food drive sponsored by RCC’s Support Staff Association. Faculty and staff winners (biology instructor Lisa Tuckey and administrative assistant Jennifer Carr, who tied for first) each received a gift certificate for a pizza from Anna’s Restaurant in Saluda.

A Turkey Trot on the Warsaw Campus nature trail had been scheduled for November 26, but inclement weather forced the organizers to stage an indoor scavenger hunt instead. Students winning turkeys at Warsaw were Nyasia Brown of Northumberland County, and William Tyler of Essex County. Due to the change of plan, Warsaw faculty and staff members were recruited to help organize the hunt, and were thus unable to participate in it.
