RCC co-sponsors Green Vendor Fair
On April 19, 4-7 p.m., Rappahannock Community College’s Workforce and Community Development Office and the Gloucester Chamber of Commerce will co-sponsor the Green Vendor Fair 2012. Held at the Abingdon Ruritan Club (8784 Guinea Road, Gloucester), the event will be a wonderful opportunity to explore some of the environmentally friendly products and services that are provided by Gloucester businesses participating in the Chamber, and to learn some simple and easy ways to protect the environment.
Green products and services will be for sale at booths sponsored by Chamber member businesses, and there will be several mini-workshops and seminars. There will be a drawing for door prizes, and “goodie bags” will be handed out to the first 100 participants. Also, the Ruritan Club will be selling hot dogs, hamburgers, and clam chowder to benefit its Relay for Life team. For more details, please visit http://www.gloucestervachamber.org/EventPage.aspx or http://www.rappahannock.edu/workforce/wp-content/blogs.dir/28/files//2010/07/Green-Vendor-Fair.pdf, or phone the Workforce Development Office at 804-758-6750.
The Green Vendor Fair is partially funded through a grant from the Greenforce Initiative, a partnership between the National Wildlife Federation and Jobs for the Future. Greenforce Initiative makes resources available to community colleges that wish to implement ideas tending to further Initiative goals: strengthening green career pathways, increasing access to these for lower-skilled adults, and using campus sustainability efforts as a “learning laboratory.”
