Investing techniques covered in lifelong learning course
For those who wish to learn to make the most of their financial resources, the Rappahannock Community College Educational Foundation’s Rappahannock Institute for Lifelong Learning (RILL) will present “Basics of Investing” on April 5, 12, and 19 (Fridays), 1-3 p.m., at RCC’s Kilmarnock Center. G. Thomas Haskins, Jr., will be the instructor.
“Basics of Investing” will cover an array of topics, including elementary tips about stocks and bonds; developing personalized programs for pre-retirement, college funding, income-producing investments, or tax-advantaged investing; and ways to avoid estate taxes. There will be interactive participation, guidelines to determine each attendee’s best path for investing, and a nuts-and-bolts analysis of the financial markets.
Thomas Haskins earned the degree of bachelor of science in economics from Hampden-Sydney College before beginning his career in investment services in 1994. He is an Infinex Investment Executive working from the Bank of Lancaster; in addition, he runs the “Stock Market Game” at Petsworth Elementary School in Gloucester County.
Advance registration, with a tuition payment of $35, is required to take this course.
