Bringing in the Fall semester

Welcome Students!!

In the Library we’re excited to have you all join us for this pivotal year of transition and growth. For many of you this is your first year at RCC, and undoubtedly a seminal moment in your lives. Please know that the Library is here to facilitate your academic needs, and intellectual pursuits. During the fall semester we will operate with slightly less space, but we want you to know we’re still a full service Library. Our Success Labs offer over 20 desktop computers loaded with Microsoft Office 2007, and other programs to facilitate your coursework. We also maintain a store of laptop computers to facilitate a larger user base (just ask for one at the circulation desk). This year we will also be offering TI-83 calculators for in library use (see circulation). Our page one the new website conveniently lists our nearly 300 databases in alphabetical order for you, while also making e-journals easier to locate. Most noticeably the catalog is now twice as accessible as it was before.

You may also want to peruse the various subject guides we’ve posted to give you a great spring board for your research.

The Library is an excellent place to study, read, conduct research, or even catch a break between classes. However, the library is not a place to blare music or accept phone calls. In fact cell phones are discouraged from being turned on in the Library altogether, and should you wish to listen to anything from a computer head phones are provided.

Concerning student I.D. cards:

Many of you already know we’re currently out of I.D. cards. The Library apologizes for this inconvenience and promises it will not impede any of your needs such as printing or borrowing books or DVD’s. Check back with us soon if you haven’t been issued an I.D. card.
