Special Programs Coordinator (H0126)
Rappahannock Community College seeks an individual to serve as a Special Programs Coordinator for the Workforce and Community Development Department.
Duties include coordinating all necessary functions of the PluggedIn Virginia Program. The goal of the PluggedIn Virginia Program is to increase credential and certificate attainment of dislocated workers, individuals with low socio-economic status, and an education level less than a high school diploma. The program focuses on GED credential, career studies certificate, and career readiness certificate (CRC) attainment. The Special Programs Coordinator will counsel and advise students to ensure they are on track for program completion, observe instructors to ensure adherence to the PluggedIn curriculum, provide data and program updates to the program manager, identify and contact potential students, schedule and conduct all program registration and intake sessions, order and distribute program materials and supplies, schedule student testing, and ensure facility space is available for all program classes and events. In addition, the Special Programs Coordinator will coordinate the college’s Career Readiness Certificate program, plan and conduct outreach to inform the public and businesses about the CRC, and partner with the local Workforce Investment Board and Virginia Employment Commission to facilitate CRC attainment of clients.
Qualifications required:
A bachelor’s degree from a nationally accredited college or university or equivalent education and training, experience coordinating multi-dimensional programs, teaching adults, and working in post-secondary, workforce and community development, and/or adult education programs, demonstrated ability to organize materials, effectively manage time, communicate, and work independently with only general direction and minimal supervision.
Qualifications preferred:
Considerable work experience working in adult education, assessment, counseling, social work, or a related field is preferred.
This is a part-time position and does not include benefits. Position is based at the RCC Kilmarnock Center, offers $20 per hour for 30 hours per week, and requires a combination of daytime and evening hours with some travel. Nursing Faculty (F0032)
Rappahannock Community College, a two-campus institution serving a rural 12-county area in the Chesapeake Bay region of Virginia, seeks applicants for a full-time, nine-month Program Head for Nursing, beginning August 16, 2012.
The general responsibilities of Nursing Program Head, (F0032) include teaching didactic and clinical/laboratory courses in an associate degree nursing program. Teaching assignments and schedule may include day and evening assignments, cross-campus or off-campus assignments. Expectation is to teach using a variety of delivery systems including interactive video, web, and other electronic media. The Nursing Program Head implements the program and curriculum consistent with established policies of the board of nursing and the NLNAC ; coordinates with other faculty and with regional health care agencies to ensure quality clinical instruction; assists with recruitment, orientation, and scheduling of adjunct instructors as needed, and assists with program retention and job placement of program graduates. The Nursing Program Head recommends and administers the program budget.
Other duties include, but are not limited to, student advisement, college committee work, special projects, program assessment and student recruitment and retention.

Teaching Faculty-Psychology (#F0007)
The successful candidate should be able to teach a broad range of freshman and sophomore-level psychology classes including abnormal, child, and developmental psychology. In addition to primary teaching responsibilities, the successful candidate must be willing to assume leadership in departmental and college-wide committee work, curriculum development, and assessment of student learning and course/program effectiveness, academic support services including advising students and student recruitment. The position is based primarily at the Warsaw campus but the position potentially maintains a schedule on both campuses. Teaching assignments and schedule may include day and evening assignments, cross-campus or off-campus assignments, and teaching dual enrollment high school students. This position requires teaching students using a variety of delivery systems including interactive video, web, and other electronic media.
The College desires applicants with a commitment to the community college mission; teaching, learning, student success, and student retention; integration of learning outcomes assessment into course development and teaching activities; use of current and emerging technologies to enhance instruction; and integration of diversity and global perspectives into instruction. MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s degree in psychology with at least 18 credits in that field. Degree must be from an APA accredited program or experimental program. Must possess strong communication skills.

Rappahannock Community College, a growing, two-campus institution serving a 12-county area in the Chesapeake Bay region of Virginia, seeks applications for the following administrative faculty position:
Dean of Health Programs (#FA020)

Rappahannock Community College invites applicants for the Dean of Health Programs to serve as the college-wide academic administrative officer of Nursing and all other health programs, reporting directly to the Vice President of Instruction and Student Development. The Dean is responsible for the supervision of all nursing and health programs faculty and staff. The primary duties are to provide direct oversight of all health programs, to insure that adequate personnel and facilities are available for effective instruction, to ensure appropriate and adequate efforts for achieving and maintaining accreditation as specified by the college, and to provide effective leadership for planning, growth, and improvement of the programs.
Required Qualifications:
Applicants must possess a Master’s degree in nursing and current license or eligibility for license to practice as a registered nurse in Virginia. Considerable knowledge of community college education administrative practices and principles; experience with curriculum design and instructional methods and technology, course scheduling and monitoring, curriculum development, personnel, budget, and resource management. Demonstrated ability to develop academic programs; conduct program and course assessments and evaluations; and make faculty assignments and teaching loads. Demonstrated ability to supervise and manage full-time and adjunct faculty and classified staff; conduct employee evaluations and determine and recommend appointments and make hiring decisions. Demonstrated ability to constructively engage in strategic planning, student advising, and the management of equipment and instructional technology. Demonstrated ability to develop and manage division budget and to engage in community relations in support of academic offerings. Experience with program accreditation, specifically NLNAC, contract management with clinical agencies and transfer partnerships, and program development in areas such as pre BSN and related health programs. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Emergency medicine background and interest in obtaining emergency medical services licensure.
Preferred Qualifications:
Doctorate in nursing or a related health care field, experience in academic administration at the post-secondary level. Prior teaching experience in a nursing program.

Adult Career Coach (00019)
The adult career coach is responsible for working with adult participants enrolled in select allied health and other occupational and technical training programs to develop individual career and education plans, secure college or training program admissions and financial aid; and acquire needed support services through human services agencies and community based organizations. Adult career coaches may divide their time between community college campuses, adult education settings, and One Stop Career Centers, according to regional needs. At the One Stops, adult career coaches will educate clients about programs and services available at community colleges and assist clients in designing individualized education and career plans that include strategies for attaining necessary support services. Participants, either at colleges or One Stops, may receive coaching in either individual or small group settings. For participants enrolled in community college, adult career coaches may communicate with faculty to maintain awareness of their assigned client’s academic progress and with student support services and external agencies to ensure that participants have the services needed to complete select training and attain a credential.

Experiential Learning/Job Placement Coordinator (H0123)
Working in coordination with the Adult Career Coach, the experiential learning/job placement coordinator is responsible for providing connections for adult students enrolled in allied health or other identified occupational/technical programs to experiential learning opportunities such as cooperative education and internships that may be available through the college or other partnering entities in the region’s workforce development system. Additionally, the job placement coordinator will work individually and in small groups with referred participants to provide services for job preparation and placement including: guidance in the job search process, employability skills coaching, connections with relevant employers, and assistance with preparing for applications, resumes, interviews, and other steps in the job placement process. As needed, coordinators will conduct workshops to prepare clients for the worksite and group sessions to reflect on initial workplace experiences. The coordinator will be expected to build relationships with Human Resources departments or other individuals responsible for hiring so as to effectively connect participants to available jobs.
Required Qualifications:

Counselor (#H0062)
Rappahannock Community College seeks applicants for a part-time counselor (position #H0062) in Student Support Services (SSS) for the Warsaw campus. SSS is a federally funded program offered by RCC which supports and guides eligible students through the educational process to success. Participating students are enrolled at RCC and meet at least one of the following criteria: low-income standard, first generation college status, and/or documented disability. The SSS counselor works in accordance with college and federal guidelines to recruit and retain program participants, provide personal and academic counseling, develop customized educational goals and action plans, coordinate tutoring services, conduct/coordinate college and life skills training and enrichment activities, and maintain comprehensive documentation of services provided and statistical data in support of compliance, evaluation and reporting.
Qualifications required: Master’s degree in counseling, education or a related field; experience conducting individual and group counseling; experience in administering and interpreting inventories and assessments; demonstrated ability to develop relationships with diverse professional and student populations; ability to coordinate multiple tasks; ability to work independently and as a member of a team; demonstrated ability to work with and maintain confidential information and materials; excellent verbal and written communication skills; demonstrated competency in the use of MS Office products; ability to adhere to federal/state/institutional regulations.

This position is restricted to a maximum of 1500 hours per year from start date with no benefits; contingent upon continuation of federal TRiO grant funding (current grant is funded through 8/31/15). The successful candidate will typically work 30 hours per week, but may be required to work additional hours during registration, summer bridge programs, and trips/outings. Trades Technician I (Position #00063) Grounds Worker
Rappahannock Community College is seeking applicants for Trades Tech I – Grounds Worker (#00063) for the Warsaw campus. This position requires a detail oriented individual to properly maintain the landscape of the college to provide a safe, neat, clean, and well maintained appearance. This will include horticulture duties such as mowing, planting, fertilizing, spraying, pruning, trimming, mulching, edging, litter removal and other tasks associated with the upkeep of the landscape and grounds of the campus. Operates and maintains grounds maintenance equipment such as zero turn mowers, walk behind mowers, tractors and leaf removal equipment. Individual will also perform all minor repairs and preventative maintenance on associated small powered equipment to include chainsaws, weed-eaters, blowers, edgers, and pole saws. Assist facilities personnel with maintaining of general college operating systems and other duties as assigned. Position reports directly to Warsaw Campus Trades Technician IV.
Qualifications required: High school graduate or equivalent. Prior work experience and training in grounds maintenance. Knowledge of best practice techniques in landscaping and grounds maintenance and installation. EMS Instructional Assistants (#H0122)
Rappahannock Community College seeks applicants for Instructional Assistants in the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) program beginning spring 2012 semester. The EMS instructional assistant will serve as a supplemental instructor in the classroom and lab setting.

Teaching Faculty-Engineering/Engineering Technology (#F0021)
Rappahannock Community College, a two-campus institution serving a rural 12-county area in the Chesapeake Bay region of Virginia, seeks an innovative and collaborative individual for a faculty-ranked teaching position in Engineering/Engineering Technology. This is a nine-month appointment with an excellent benefits package. Position begins August 16, 2012.
The successful candidate will teach freshman and sophomore level engineering and engineering technology classes. In addition to primary teaching responsibilities, the successful candidate must be willing to assume leadership in departmental and college-wide committee work, curriculum development, and assessment of student learning and course/program effectiveness, academic support services including advising students and student recruitment; as well as student and community engagement. Teaching assignments and schedule may include day and evening assignments, cross-campus or off-campus assignments, and teaching dual enrollment high school students. Expectation is to teach students using a variety of delivery systems including interactive video, web, and other electronic media.
The College desires applicants with a commitment to the community college mission; teaching, learning, student success, and student retention; integration of learning outcomes assessment into course development and teaching activities; use of current and emerging technologies to enhance instruction; and integration of diversity and global perspectives into instruction. Finalists will be asked to present a short sample lesson.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s degree in electrical engineering or closely related specialty area in engineering from a regionally accredited institution. Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in one or more of the following areas: circuits, dynamics, instrumentation, materials, mechanics, statics, and thermal-fluid sciences, the engineering design process, sustainability and green design, modeling and simulation.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
*Master’s degree in engineering and 18 graduate semester hours in math, physics, computer science, or other STEM area
*Experience working as a licensed engineer or as an educator
*Strong oral and written communication skills
