The First Year Experience (FYE)

You are in charge of your first-year college experience.

Think about that for a minute. You are in charge. You are the boss. You can choose to have a successful, fun-filled, and productive year—or not. It is totally up to you. If you choose to take the responsibility needed to be successful, we’d like to help.

RCC’s First-Year Experience program will guide and support you as you move through an exciting array of new ideas and challenging experiences toward the excellent grades, academic preparation, and workplace skills you desire. All without sacrificing fun and friendship. We can’t simply hand you these rewards, but we can show you how to earn them for yourself.

The First Year Experience (FYE) is the combination of curricular and co-curricular activities and policies that support the academic success of students in the first year of college. It is based upon the belief that the provision of intentional resources, development and support in the first year will lead to greater future success. The FYE is part of a movement that began with earnest during the early 70s, a time where there was a lot of social unrest, growing diversity on campuses and a general distrust in authority/administration
