IMPORTANT SUMMER 2012 SEMESTER FINANCIAL AID INFORMATION TO STUDENTS

IMPORTANT SUMMER 2012 SEMESTER FINANCIAL AID INFORMATION TO STUDENTS (Updated- 4/23/2012):

Please read the detailed information regarding the Summer 2012 financial aid process, awarding, and bookstore charging.

For Summer 2012 financial aid, RCC will use the same FAFSA data you did for Fall 2011/Spring 2012 (2011-2012 FAFSA) AND only students who have a remaining Federal PELL grant amount may be eligible.  Financial Aid is extremely limited for the Summer term and there is no guarantee of summer financial aid unless you have remaining Federal Pell Grant and/or Scholarship funds.

After your financial aid eligibility has been determined, you will be sent a Financial Aid Award Letter notification by mail outlining your eligibility for Summer 2012 term.  Most award letters will be mailed to eligible students before May 10th.   Included with the Financial Aid Award Letter will be the specific dates (for Summer 2012 May 17th through May 31st) that financial aid students may charge their books and supplies in the RCC/Follett Bookstore.  Please adhere to this schedule and note that even if your classes begin in a later summer session (8-week, 4-week, 2nd 5-week), you can only charge your books and supplies to financial aid during these specific dates.

Beginning May 17th through May 31st, Financial Aid students will now have the flexibility of ordering their textbooks online for the Summer 2012 Semester through the RCC Bookstore www.rappahannock.edu/bookstore/. Please note this process incurs additional shipping charges that will be charged to your financial aid. Of importance, be sure your address is accurate on the RCC Student Information System (MyRCC) as your mailing address must match the shipping address you give to the RCC Follett Bookstore or your order will be cancelled. Please review the RCC Follett Bookstore site for details.

To make an address change/update, follow the directions below by logging into MyRCC and click VCCS SIS – Student Information System :
Self Service>Student Center>Personal Information>Mailing Address

If you are not eligible for any grant funds, you will not be sent a notification.  You would need to be prepared to pay for your course(s) by May 10th if you register prior to  May 10th.  If you register after May 10th and have not received a Financial Aid Summer 2012 Award Letter, payment is due the same day you register.

If you are not meeting satisfactory academic progress (SAP) standards after Spring 2012 grades are posted, your financial aid awards will be canceled for the Summer 2012 term.

The College reserves the right to reduce or cancel any financial aid award.
