COMMUNITY SERVICE
Community service activities take a variety of forms in the college’s efforts to meet local interests and needs. These services include noncredit courses, cultural programs, and community events.
They are supported primarily by the fees paid by the participants. Thirty percent of these fees are reimbursed to the college to offset overhead costs. Community residents are encouraged to participate in activities of interest to them, and to use the college facilities.
CONTINUING EDUCATION UNITS
Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are assigned for completion of specified noncredit classes designed to provide occupational skills or to assist in the solution of problems confronting the community in such areas as health, aging, environment, and education. Specific criteria for the assignment of CEUs can be obtained from the Center for Workforce and Community Development. One CEU represents ten hours spent in a planned noncredit activity. CEU records are kept at the college in transcript form, and copies are furnished upon request.
