Paying Tuition
Tuition is due by published deadlines. If tuition is not paid at this time (or charged to a scholarship or grant) the registration will be cancelled and the student will have to re-register.
Payment of tuition entitles students to use the library, bookstore, parking lot, student lounge, and other facilities of the college. Students are expected to pay charges for any college property damaged, or lost, such as laboratory or shop equipment, supplies, library books and materials.
Tuition payment may be paid by cash, money order, personal check, MasterCard, Visa, or American Express. A $35 charge will be applied for returned checks. After two returned checks, additional financial transactions must be made using cash, money order, or certified check.
Tuition Payment Options
Students may choose from one of the following methods to pay tuition. Partial payments will not be accepted.
Web Payment
Students may access the student information system (SIS) to pay tuition online. Important: Students who pay on the web and later are due a refund will be refunded through the credit card used on the web for payment.
Nelnet Tuition Payment Plan
To help meet students’ educational expenses, RCC is offering the Nelnet Business Solutions (NBS) Tuition Payment Plan (formerly FACTS) during the fall and spring semesters. For a non-refundable fee NBS allows students to pay tuition in monthly payments. Students can make payments automatically from a checking or savings account or by credit card. This payment plan is not a loan program, and there is no credit check. The earlier students enroll in the program, the more payment options they have; however, students can sign up for the Nelnet (NBS) Tuition Payment Plan only during registration periods. Dates are posted and students have access to NBS on the RCC website, at www.rappahannock.edu/businessoffice/nelnet.
NOTICE: Students must provide their checking, savings, or credit card account information for this plan. Nelnet automatically drafts the monthly payments from the account provided.
Nelnet brochures with more information are available in the Admissions and Record Office, the Business Office, the Financial Aid Office, and at all campus sites, or on the RCC website: www.rappahannock.edu/businessoffice/nelnet
In Person
Tuition can be paid by cash, check, MasterCard, VISA or American Express at the Cashier’s window in the Business Office. Payments may be made during regular business and registration hours. In order to facilitate timely processing of the payment, students should have their student ID number (EMPLID) available. Partial payments and checks in excess of tuition cannot be accepted.
Checks for the exact amount due may be mailed to the Business Office on either campus:
RCC Business Office or RCC Business Office
12745 College Drive 52 Campus Drive
Glenns, VA 23149 Warsaw VA 22572
Students should enclose their student ID number (EMPLID) and mail the payment in time to meet the due date.
Financial Aid
All financial aid will be credited directly to the student’s account. The award(s) will be used to pay all outstanding amounts owed to the College for the semester. If there is a credit balance after all obligations have been met, the student will be issued a refund check. If financial aid does not cover all expenses, the student will be required to pay the balance owed by the published due date.
Note: Initial Financial Aid award notifications are based upon full-time enrollment (12 credit hours). When a Financial Aid student falls below full-time status, the Financial Aid award is reduced. Financial Aid students will be billed for any charges over and above the final award amount. Please contact the Financial Aid office for more information.
Veterans’ Benefits
Information and assistance about veterans’ benefits may be obtained from the Financial Aid office.
RCC Educational Foundation
The RCC Educational Foundation has a number of scholarship endowments which provide awards. In addition, private citizens, businesses and industries, and civic clubs also provide scholarship funds.
The RCC Scholarship Committee selects the recipients for the scholarships. Applications are available in the Financial Aid Office, the RCC Educational Foundation Office, and at other campus locations and regional education centers. Information is also available online.
Federal Work Study Program
This program provides an opportunity for a student to work while attending college.
Students are assigned by the Financial Aid Office to positions within the College or with non-profit agencies in the region.
Payment by Third Party
If tuition is being paid by an employer, another party or multiple sources, the student should contact the business office prior to registering for more information concerning the required forms.
Refund Policy
It is the student’s responsibility to know the refund dates, which are published each semester in the Schedule of Classes. Students are eligible for a full refund of tuition for credit hours of course(s) dropped on or before the last day to drop with a refund. Refunds will not be authorized after the refund dates; they are mailed from the Department of the Treasury approximately 2 weeks after the add/drop deadline.
Important Information regarding the mailing of Refund Checks for payments made in person. Refund checks are automatically generated by the Student Information System (SIS) and are dependent upon an up-to-date student mailing address. Students should update their address immediately in the SIS whenever they relocate or change their address. Address changes may be submitted to the Admissions and Records Office, or by accessing myRCC from the RCC website: www.rappahannock.edu. Students who do not have a current address, or are missing address information in their student account will not receive refund checks.
