Human Services Career Studies Certificate

Purpose
The Human Services program is designed to familiarize students with the structure, purpose, philosophy, and offerings of programs that provide services in areas of social welfare, health, mental health, substance abuse, mental retardation, and other human needs. Students will gain a basic knowledge of the professional careers possible in the field of Human Services. Instruction will include basic content in theoretical concepts, but the emphasis will be on practical applications needed for success in an entry-level position in human services.
Occupational Objectives
Aides, attendants, and paraprofessionals in settings where social welfare, health, mental health, substance abuse, mental retardation and residential services are provided.
Admission Requirements
Applicants must meet the general admission requirements of the college.
Program Requirements
Students are required to earn a minimum GPA of 2.0 in the curriculum to be awarded the Human Services Career Studies Certificate.
