Tech Prep
he Rappahannock Tech Prep Consortium is one of 23 Tech Prep consortia in Virginia formed to expand partnerships between and among community colleges, school divisions, businesses, and the community at large. To accomplish its mission to develop, improve, and promote career pathways in high demand-high wage careers, the Rappahannock Consortium coordinates ongoing cooperation, collaboration, and communication between RCC and the 14 school divisions within RCC’s service region.
The Consortium’s primary goal is to prepare all young people to be successful, productive citizens through high academic achievement by integrating academic and technical studies with career preparation and exploration.
The Consortium serves as a resource to support the educational process by:
- providing leadership to effect curriculum restructuring;
- developing articulated educational/career paths and dual enrollment programs;
- facilitating regional alliances between education and business/industry;
- promoting professional development opportunities for teachers, counselors, and administrators in career and technical education;
- promoting the goals and accomplishments of the Consortium throughout the service region, and assisting school divisions in public relations and marketing initiatives intended to increase awareness of career and technical opportunities within their local communities.
