Honors Information
RCC’s Honors Program is designed to provide an enriched academic experience that will enhance a student’s individual development. Through this program, a student will be able to earn special recognition for achievement based on an advanced level of learning. Participation is voluntary for both students and faculty. Courses in which the student is regularly enrolled may be converted to an Honors-designated course upon the successful completion of a project for that course.
Admission to the Honors Program:
- Interested students must submit an Honors Program application to the Program Director no later than September 15th.
- Both the student and the faculty supervisor must agree on the proposed Honors project. The Honors Contract Proposal must be submitted to the Honors Program director by September 15th.
- An Honors Program student may designate certain courses for Honors credit only if the professor is willing to participate in the Program and in the particular project.
- A student may also choose to earn an Honors diploma at RCC. Once a student successfully completes three Honors courses, and two one-credit hour Honors seminars (offered each semester), and maintains a 3.4 GPA, the college will award an Honors diploma to that student.
