Arts and Sciences Degree (AA&S)

Associate of Arts and Sciences Transfer Degree

The Associate of Arts and Sciences Transfer Degree Program is designed for persons who plan to transfer to a four-year college or university to complete a baccalaureate degree. By selecting appropriate electives, students should be able to complete the lower division requirements for a variety of majors at the baccalaureate level. Examples of baccalaureate majors this program may prepare students for include:  Liberal Arts, Science, Social or Behavioral Sciences, and Teacher Prep/Education.

In order to assure that courses meet lower division requirements of the anticipated major at the specific institution the students plans to transfer to, students should consult their academic advisor to schedule their courses.

Associate of Arts and Sciences Transfer Degree/Business Administration Specialization

The Associate of Arts and Sciences Transfer Degree Program, Business Administration Specialization, is designed for persons who plan to transfer to a four-year college or university to complete a baccalaureate degree in a business-related field such as Business Administration or Accounting.

Associate of Applied Science Degree (AAS)

The Associate of Applied Science degree is designed to provide specific programmatic coursework that prepares students for the workplace or provides new skills for career advancement. In general, this degree is not transferable to a four-year institution. However, RCC does have specific articulation agreements with area colleges and universities for some of these programs. Business Management

The Business Management program is designed to meet the needs of recent high school graduates as well as experiences employees who want to upgrade or supplement existing skills or acquire new skills and knowledge in business.

General Engineering Technology

The General Engineering Technology Program is designed to prepare individuals to meet the growing needs of high technology industries for trained technicians.  This program offers two specializations: Electronics and Industrial Electricity.

Electronics

Courses in the electronics specialization are designed to develop competent engineering technicians, who, upon graduation, will have the academic and technical preparation to enter the workforce, pursue additional on-the-job training, or enroll in an advanced program of study in electronics technology.

Industrial Electricity

Courses in the Industrial electricity specialization are designed to develop competent engineering technicians who, upon graduation, will have the academic and technical preparation to enter the workforce, pursue additional on-the-job training, or enroll in an advanced program of study in electrical engineering technology.

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN and Practical Nursing students click here for more information)

The registered nursing program is designed to prepare students to encompass the art and science of nursing in their professional role.  At the completion of the associate degree in nursing program, students will be able to integrate nursing skills with health teaching to provide total client care, utilizing ethical values and legal principles. Students will also be able to utilize the nursing process in coordinating the care of their clients in a variety of health care settings.

Protective Services Technology

Protective Services Technology encompasses the career fields of law enforcement, corrections, and private security. This associate of applied degree, designed to meet both the academic and technical needs of those employed in the field of Protective Services, provides knowledge and skills for beginning employees as well as experienced employees desiring career advancement.

Emergency Medical Services

The Emergency Medical Services Associate in Applied Science Degree is offered by Northern Virginia Community College at RCC. This curriculum is designed to develop the competencies needed to prepare the student to be certified as a Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician-Intermediate and/or Paramedic.
